Transnational Project Meeting and Joint Staff Training Event „Curriculum design development“

The first Transnational Project Meeting of the RISE Project was hosted by the Escola Superior de Educação e Comunicação (ESEC), Universidade do Algarve, Faro, Portugal, on 25th and 26th May 2026. The meeting brought together representatives from all partner institutions to review the progress of Work Package 2 (WP2), discuss project management and reporting procedures, validate the first developments related to the Sustainable Education Course (SEC), and prepare the next phases of project implementation.

The meeting commenced with welcome remarks from representatives of the University of Algarve, including the Vice-Rector, the Director of ESEC, and the institutional coordinator of the RISE Project. These opening sessions highlighted the strategic importance of sustainability education in higher education and reaffirmed the commitment of all partners to achieving the project's objectives. Partner institutions subsequently presented updates on their institutions, providing an overview of their educational contexts, expertise, and contributions to the project. These presentations facilitated mutual understanding and strengthened cooperation among the consortium members.

The Learning, Teaching and Training Activity of the RISE Project was held at the University of Algarve, Faro, Portugal, from 27th to 29th May 2026. The training activities brought together academic staff, project partners, invited experts, and master's students to collaboratively develop and refine the Sustainable Education Course (SEC) and strengthen participants’ competencies in curriculum design, sustainability education, and active learning methodologies. The activities directly contributed to the objectives of WP2 by supporting the development of SD curricula and the first working design of the Sustainable Education Course.

Workshop on Sustainability Development was led by sustainability expert Vânia Sousa, from the University of Algarve and explored key sustainability concepts, current challenges in higher education, and strategies for integrating sustainability into teaching and learning practices. Workshop on Curriculum Design Development facilitated by Ana Catarina Monteiro focused on curriculum planning, constructive alignment, learning outcomes, assessment strategies, and curriculum innovation. Participants reflected on how sustainability principles could be effectively incorporated into curriculum design processes. The meeting provided an important opportunity for strengthening collaboration among partners and ensuring a common understanding of the project's objectives, deliverables, and expected outcomes.
